U.P.P.R.S. Assiinins / Keweenaw Peninsula |

![]() |
Founded in 1843 by the reverend Frederick Baraga, Assinins is located on the southeast shore of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Baraga came to the region to preach Christianity to the local natives. As a result of this, an orphanage was established, which has since been converted into a local tribal center. Some of the existing buildings on the property date back to the mid-1800's, which may explain why stories of hauntings can still be heard in the area. Tales of ghostly nuns, children, and a priest are said to haunt the area they once called home! The apparitions, along with reports of moving objects and ghostly voices heard on the property make this location one you wouldn't want to visit alone on a dark night! |
