U.P.P.R.S. Crisp Point Lighthouse |
|
![]() |
Constructed in 1904 with many older outbuildings on the grounds, all that remains of the Crisp Point Lighthouse is the tower itself. Located 13 miles west of Whitefish Point and originally the location of a life saving station established in 1877, the point was named for the first station commander, Christopher Crisp. Local stories state that on nights of bad weather and rough conditions on Lake Superior, phantom footsteps may be heard on the stairway to the old light, possibly those of an old light keeper still trying to fulfill his duties!
