Sheldrake

Sheldrake

The logging community of Shelldrake is located north of Paradise on Lake Superior.  It was originally settled by lumbermen in the 1800's.  Much of the village was destroyed by a fire in 1926, which cause many residents to move away from the area.  Today, very few year round residents remain, most of who have their own ghost stories to tell.

Several of the local houses are reportedly haunted, with occurrences ranging from moving furniture and window shades, to apparitions of old time lumberjacks, and a pretty woman who appears in certain areas.  One of the most popular ghosts in the area is that of an old captain who is often sighted by passing ships.  He is seen standing on a dock, smoking his pipe.  Anytime a boat approaches, he suddenly disappears.
